Senior Legal Counsel, Marketing

Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy while managing legal risk. Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high-stakes issues and disputes. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Partner with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services. Escalate complex issues to senior legal leadership where appropriate. 8+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Fully qualified lawyer with excellent academic credentials (preferably qualified in European market). Extensive marketing legal experience either at a law firm or in-house, preferably a combination of both, advising marketing professionals on advertising and promotional marketing matters. Strong expertise in either payments law/financial services law or e-commerce law. Excellent English language skills; other European languages, ideally German, are a plus. Extensive knowledge of regulations and industry guidelines applicable to mobile, social media, and traditional marketing, including GDPR, consumer protection regulations and telemarketing sales rules. Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative, and pragmatic ways to facilitate clear and open communication at all levels of the organisation. Flexibility to work with colleagues in APAC and the United States to accommodate time zone differences. Ability to adopt a ‘can do', solution focused and collaborative mindset. Expertise in risk management, compliance, and regulatory frameworks as they relate to marketing and advertising. Skilled at identifying business and legal issues, providing risk-based recommendations, and contributing to strategic business conversations in a fast-paced environment. Experience navigating complex legal issues around digital marketing, social media, and emerging technologies. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaborating with business and cross-functional leaders at various levels of seniority, across countries. Organised and capable of managing and prioritising multiple matters independently under deadline pressure.
