What We’re Looking For

We're looking for a hands-on engineer to take full ownership of our optical measurement head. You combine mechanical design skills with a strong understanding of optics and thrive in the lab as much as at your desk. You've taken hardware through full development cycles, including prototyping, miniaturizing, and scaling for production, and you're excited to do it in a fast-moving team working on real-world impact. This role is deeply cross-functional and highly experimental, and it has room to grow into a technical leadership position.

You take ownership end to end, hold yourself to a high standard, and focus on outcomes that matter for the customer. What You’ll Build

• Lead our optics platform — build and refine the illumination and sensing systems at the heart of our technology

• Own the full development cycle of new measurement head iterations. From early research and concept through rapid prototyping, iterative improvement, and deployment

• Design and optimize opto-mechanical assemblies improving efficiency, signal quality, and repeatability of the measurement setup

• Drive optimization of existing systems toward more compact designs, improved environmental sealing, and better thermal management

• Build and test prototypes, including hands-on work with optical components and measurement validation

• Work closely with the electronics and software team to iterate on system performance and data quality

• Optimize designs for manufacturing & assembly enabling better scaling

• Collaborate with suppliers and support the transition from prototype setups to production-ready systems

What You Bring

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field

• 3+ years of experience developing mechanical or mechatronic systems, ideally involving optical components or sensors

• Hands-on experience of taking opto-mechanical system from concept through prototyping to production-ready design

• Solid understanding of light propagation, coupling, and core optical principles

• Proven experience of optimizing designs in compact electromechanical systems, thermal management, environmental sealing, and design for manufacturing

• Proficiency in CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Onshape), FEM simulation and tolerance design

• Comfortable working cross-functionally with electronics, software, and supplier teams

• Ambition to grow into a technical leadership role

• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset. You naturally identify what needs to happen next, collaborate openly in an international team, and are eager to grow alongside it
