About the Position
As a Senior Product Manager Consumer AI (m/f/d), you will play a central role within Products.Innovation.Experience at Deutsche Telekom. You will make a significant contribution to the further development of AI-based customer experiences and take responsibility for a strategically important product area.
In this role, you will combine strategic product management with consistent execution, a strong customer focus, technical understanding and data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Design and Data and AI specialists.
You will have the opportunity to help shape AI-based customer experiences for millions of people across Europe and actively contribute to the development and scaling of our Consumer AI products.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Manager Consumer AI (m/f/d), you will take end-to-end responsibility for an AI-based product, product component or central platform function that is highly relevant to our digital customer experiences.
- You manage your product area throughout the entire product life cycle—from discovery and validation through development and delivery to rollout, scaling and continuous improvement
- You develop the product strategy for your area of responsibility and derive a clear roadmap based on customer needs, research, product data and business objectives
- You define priorities, translate them into an actionable backlog and ensure a shared vision across Product, Engineering and other relevant stakeholders
- You decide which customer needs and use cases should be addressed by your product, transferred to other solutions or deliberately not pursued
- You assess the use cases in which AI creates sustainable value for customers and the company
- Together with Engineering, Data and AI, you define suitable quality criteria for AI-based products and ensure that these are systematically measured and evaluated
- You are responsible for assessing the release readiness of your product area and make well-founded decisions based on the available data regarding when products and features are ready for customers
- You translate customer needs, research findings, data analyses and business objectives into clear, prioritised requirements and user stories
- You work closely with Engineering Leads and Architecture and actively help shape the technical direction of your product area
- You evaluate different solution options and make well-founded trade-offs between functionality, quality, latency and costs
- You manage your product area based on clearly defined product and technical KPIs, such as task success, adoption, engagement, quality, latency and cost per interaction
- You coordinate several interdependent squads, manage interfaces and dependencies and ensure the consistent implementation of product priorities
- Depending on your area of responsibility, you drive rollout, scaling and localisation across different European markets and customer groups
Requirements
You have extensive experience in product management for digital products and combine strategic thinking with a strong focus on execution and a pronounced technical understanding. In addition, you have the following knowledge and skills:
Must-Have Skills
- Around seven or more years of professional experience in product management for digital products, platforms or technology-driven services
- Proven end-to-end responsibility for a product area, product component or extensive feature set that you have successfully developed or scaled
- Experience with products or features in which AI assumes a significant part of the value creation, such as assistants, conversational or agentic experiences, personalisation, search, recommendation or automation
- Strong judgement in assessing the use cases in which AI creates sustainable value
- Sound understanding of the specific requirements of AI-based products, including fallback behaviour, guardrails, evaluations, data dependencies and trade-offs between quality, latency and costs
- Strong data and KPI expertise, as well as the ability to independently analyse relevant metrics and use them for product decisions
- Extensive experience in backlog management, roadmap planning, requirements management, user stories and agile product development
- Experience in the practical use of AI throughout the entire product life cycle, for example in analysing research and customer feedback, developing and validating requirements, prototyping, creating and evaluating test cases, and analysing product data
- Ability to align cross-functional squads and senior stakeholders around common goals and priorities, even without formal authority
- Strong hands-on and entrepreneurial approach, with a close connection to the product, relevant data and customer feedback, as well as a clear focus on measurable business success
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in telecommunications, consumer tech, apps, platforms, SaaS or digital commerce
- Experience in international organisations or multi-market setups
- German language skills in addition to very good English skills
