Senior/Principal Scientist - Drug Substance Dev NCE

The Position

Join our innovative and dynamic team in late-phase drug substance development in Ingelheim. As a Senior/Principal Scientist in Drug Substance Development NCE Germany, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable supply of drug substances for clinical trials while enabling scalable, market-ready manufacturing processes. In this pivotal position, you will actively shape the development of modern drug substances from late-stage development through to commercialization.
This position can be filled either as Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist.
This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 3 days per week on site.
This position is part time eligible with 80 %.

Tasks & responsibilities

• In your new role you will actively advance development of pharmaceutical drug substances for clinical trials and market by applying your expertise in analytical method development.


• Furthermore, you will take responsibility and lead for the planning, coordinating and successful execution of analytical development projects (non-GMP and GMP) for drug substances, ensuring compliance with the highest quality standards for clinical and market expectations.


• You will support the preparation of clinical and marketing authorization submission documentation.


• Moreover, you will work in an international and cross-functional environment, contributing your leadership skills and fostering collaboration across global teams.


• With your commitment and expertise, you will ensure the successful development of innovative drug substances while maintaining full compliance with regulatory and EHS standards across all development phases.

Additional tasks for Principal Scientist:

• You will drive the development of innovative, science-based solutions for complex, cross-functional challenges with high organizational impact


• With your expertise, you will act as scientific lead for complex, cross-functional and cross-organizational (new) technology initiatives, with accountability for strategic knowledge generation (e.g., guidelines, publications, patents) and stewardship of scientific expertise across multiple teams

Requirements

• PhD (e.g., PhD, MD) or Master’s degree (e.g., MSc) with a focus on analytical sciences or a related field with several years of relevant professional experience


• Strong scientific expertise in analytical method development


• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and regulatory requirements for drug substance registration is advantageous


• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks effectively


• Excellent problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset


• Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken)

Additional requirements for Principal Scientist

• PhD (e.g., PhD, MD) with several years of relevant professional experience or Master’s degree (e.g., MSc) with longterm relevant professional experience


• Extensive expertise in analytical method development and validation for pharmaceutical drug substances for clinical trials and market


• In-depth experience in cGMP regulations and regulatory requirements for drug substance registrations clinical trials and market


• Experience in leading teams or strong track record to collaborate proactively in global project teams
