Strategic Sourcing Manager (B4) \nGlobal Sourcing \u0026 Procurement (GSP) \u2013 Facilities \u0026 Capital Infrastructure \nLocation: Germany (office based / hybrid) \nReporting to: Director, Global Category Leader \u2013 Facilities\n\nRole Summary \nThe Strategic Sourcing Manager (B4) is a senior individual contributor role within Global Sourcing \u0026 Procurement, responsible for the end\u2011to\u2011end execution of complex sourcing initiatives aligned to approved global category strategies. The primary focus is Facilities and Capital Infrastructure (CAPEX), supporting Applied Materials\u2019 manufacturing, R\u0026D, and corporate facilities footprint across Germany and the broader EMEA region.\n\nThis role requires strong commercial judgment, disciplined execution, and credibility with technical and operational stakeholders. The position does not include people management responsibilities and is designed for an experienced sourcing professional who delivers outcomes through expertise, structure, and execution rigor in a regulated, capital\u2011intensive environment.\n\nOperating within the Sourcing Center of Excellence (SCoE), and in close partnership with the Global Category Manager, the role owns the execution model\u2014translating category strategies into RFx events, negotiations, supplier selections, and contract awards\u2014while ensuring compliance with governance, risk, and internal control requirements.\n\nRole at a Glance \nJob Title: Strategic Sourcing Manager \nLevel: B4 \nFunction: Global Sourcing \u0026 Procurement \u2013 Global Category \u0026 Sourcing \nRole Type: Senior Individual Contributor (no direct reports) \nPrimary Focus: Facilities and Capital Infrastructure sourcing (CAPEX with selective OPEX scope) \nOperating Model: Category defines strategic direction; Sourcing executes the commercial delivery\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSourcing Execution \u0026 Commercial Discipline \nExecute complex sourcing initiatives based on business criticality, technical complexity, and risk exposure\u2014not solely spend thresholds. \nLead RFx processes, commercial negotiations, and supplier selections in alignment with approved Facilities and Capital category strategies. \nApply appropriate sourcing levers including competition design, negotiation strategy, contracting approach, and commercial structuring within defined guardrails. \nDevelop robust, defensible award recommendations supported by financial analysis, risk assessment, and technical alignment.\n\nPortfolio \u0026 Execution Management \nManage a defined portfolio of sourcing projects aligned to category wave plans and regional demand signals. \nPrioritize execution activities based on delivery risk, market conditions, and stakeholder urgency while maintaining predictable outcomes. \nProvide transparent and factual reporting on status, risks, and value delivery to category leadership and key stakeholders.\n\nCategory Partnership \u0026 Market Intelligence \nWork closely with the Global Category Manager to operationalize category strategies into executable sourcing events. \nProvide structured feedback on supplier performance, market dynamics, and execution lessons learned to inform strategy refinement. \nSupport standardization of sourcing approaches, supplier models, and buying channels across regions.\n\nGovernance, Risk \u0026 Compliance \nEnsure all sourcing activities comply with GSP governance frameworks, internal controls, and audit standards. \nIntegrate supplier risk considerations including continuity of supply, financial stability, compliance, and third\u2011party risk management into sourcing decisions. \nCoordinate with Contracting CoE, Legal, Risk, Finance, Tax, and Internal Controls throughout the sourcing and award lifecycle.\n\nStakeholder \u0026 Cross\u2011Functional Engagement \nAct as the commercial lead for assigned sourcing initiatives, partnering effectively with Facilities, Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Finance stakeholders. \nProvide clear, structured, and fact\u2011based recommendations to enable timely and informed business decisions. \nOperate confidently in a global, matrixed environment, influencing outcomes without formal authority.\n\nProfessional Profile\n\nFunctional Expertise \nStrong background in strategic sourcing, RFx execution, negotiations, supplier evaluation, and contract award processes, ideally within Facilities, Construction, or Capital Infrastructure environments.\n\nBusiness \u0026 Technical Acumen \nAbility to understand and translate engineering, construction, and Facilities requirements into effective commercial strategies and sourcing decisions.\n\nExecution Leadership (IC Role) \nRecognized as a reliable execution partner who delivers outcomes through discipline, credibility, and structured problem solving.\n\nProblem Solving \u0026 Judgment \nApplies analytical thinking and sound commercial judgment to resolve complex sourcing, supplier, and risk\u2011related challenges.\n\nEducation \u0026 Experience \nBachelor\u2019s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline. \n7\u201310 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or commercial roles within complex, technical environments. \nProven experience supporting CAPEX sourcing across design, engineering, construction, and commissioning phases. \nExposure to Facilities OPEX categories is strongly preferred. \nExperience working within global organizations with strong governance and compliance expectations.\n\nLanguage Requirements \nFluent in German and English (written and spoken) is mandatory. \nProfessional working proficiency in Italian is required.\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n7 - 10 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\nDay (Germany)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nNo\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nEmployee Referral (Standard)\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
