Your role
As Epic Owner (m/f/d/x) – Core TV Features, you are responsible for the functional evolution of MagentaTV’s core TV capabilities across all supported platforms and markets. Your focus is on the features our customers use every day — from Live TV and content playback to the Electronic Program Guide (EPG), account management, and settings.
You ensure that these capabilities evolve consistently across devices and markets while balancing customer needs, business priorities, and the requirements of our national companies.
In this role, you are the central functional interface between Product Management, Client Product Owners, UX/UI, Architecture, and Engineering. You translate strategic objectives and market requirements into clear capability roadmaps, epics, and functional requirements. You own the functional and business evolution of your capability. Operational delivery, sprint planning, and detailed UX implementation are outside the scope of your responsibility.
Your responsibilities
- You define requirements for customer onboarding, login, and the account experience, including SSO, authentication, and device-specific login flows for TV, mobile, and web.
- You own the functional requirements for core TV capabilities such as the player, Live TV and EPG, Cloud PVR, Download & Play, time-shifted viewing, Continue Watching, reminders, and settings.
- You ensure that features are available as consistently as possible across all clients and platforms.
- You define binding minimum standards for the user experience, including accessibility requirements such as subtitles and audio description.
- You harmonize the requirements of national companies for core TV capabilities and turn them into shared, scalable solutions.
- You initiate and support Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to evaluate suitable technologies and vendors.
- You own and maintain the shared A/B testing and experimentation framework as well as the cross-domain testing calendar for MagentaTV.
- You design and steer A/B tests and experiments within your domain based on the shared experimentation framework.
- You continuously monitor customer feedback and relevant KPIs and use these insights to identify opportunities for improvement within your domain.
How you will work with us
- You translate customer needs, business requirements, and market requirements into concrete capabilities and epics.
- You analyze existing features and identify opportunities to continuously improve the core TV viewing experience.
- You formulate clear functional requirements and robust acceptance criteria.
- You ensure a consistent customer experience across all supported platforms and devices.
- You work closely with Client Product Owners during refinement and implementation.
- Together with UX, Architecture, and Engineering, you ensure that functional and business objectives are appropriately reflected in the implemented solutions.
- On cross-domain topics, you collaborate closely with the Epic Owners responsible for Discovery, Identity, Aggregation, Platforms, and Content Experiences.
What you bring
In addition to at least five years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Epic Owner, or in a comparable role focused on core TV or streaming capabilities such as Live TV, EPG, playback, or time-shifted viewing, you have a solid understanding of modern operator-grade TV and streaming services that combine linear television, on-demand content, and time-shifted viewing across multiple screens and devices.
Your additional skills include:
- Good knowledge of the fundamentals of playback and streaming, including streaming protocols and audio and subtitle formats. Your technical understanding enables you to formulate well-founded functional requirements without taking on engineering responsibility yourself.
- Experience designing and defining customer-centric digital capabilities and product requirements.
- The ability to formulate clear, structured, and traceable requirements and acceptance criteria, including at portfolio level.
- Experience with data-driven product development and decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured, solution-oriented way of working.
- Experience harmonizing requirements across different markets, national companies, or business units.
- The ability to translate complex business requirements into clear and structured product requirements.
- Excellent communication skills (C1-level English) and experience working with a wide range of stakeholders.
