Arbeitsbeschreibung - Test Engineer f/m/d (Automated Testing / Embedded Systems) Berlin

Are you excited about testing smart technologies that make energy smarter and more efficient? A Berlin-based technology company is looking for a hands-on Test Engineer (f/m/d) who can build and maintain automated test systems for smart metering and IoT communication devices. If you thrive on solving complex problems and working across disciplines — this is for you.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain automated test systems for embedded hardware and firmware

Analyze technical specifications and create robust test plans and test cases

Work with tools like Python, C/C++, LabView, or MATLAB to develop custom test scripts

Set up test environments including HIL and functional test setups

Document test results and track issues across teams

Work closely with Field Application Engineers to replicate customer issues and improve product reliability

Support product approvals and take part in product/software release meetings

Provide technical input and root cause analysis for escalated customer issues (Level 3 support)

Requirements

Degree in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar

5+ years' experience in automated testing of complex electronic or embedded systems

Strong skills in test scripting (Python, C/C++) and using lab testing tools

Experience with microcontroller systems or embedded platforms (e.g., Raspberry Pi)

Familiarity with communication protocols (DLMS-COSEM, Zigbee, NB-IoT, LoRa, MODBUS, etc.)

Understanding of IoT and smart grid applications

Cybersecurity knowledge is a plus

Fluent in English and either German or French

Based in Berlin (onsite presence required)
