Trade Finance Intern (m/f/d)

Location: Frankfurt am Main

Term: 6 months, flexible starting date

Profile Summary

As a Trade Finance Intern, you will support Mizuho's Global Transaction Banking Department in delivering Trade Finance solutions to European corporate clients across Continental Europe.

You will gain hands-on exposure to Trade Finance products, including guarantees, letters of credit, working capital solutions, structured finance and inventory finance while working closely with Product Sales, Credit, Middle Office and Operations, Compliance, Legal and overseas teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the origination, structuring, and execution of Trade Finance transactions.


• Assist in preparing client presentations, commercial proposals, and internal approval materials.


• Support to conduct market, industry, and client research to identify business opportunities.


• Support transactions involving guarantees, letters of credit, supply chain and inventory finance.


• Assist in coordinating transactions throughout their lifecycle, from origination to execution and post-closing follow-up.


• Coordinate with Relationship Managers, Operations, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and overseas offices.


• Assist with pipeline management.


• Support business development initiatives and strategic projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.


• Participate in internal/external meetings, projects, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Bachelor Degree (or currently pursuing degree) in Finance, Economics, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.


• Interest in Transaction Banking and international Trade Finance.


• Strong analytical and communication skills.


• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.


• Fluent English; German/ French/ Spanish is an advantage.


• Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an international environment.
