Intern in R&D for 3D Scene Generation (m/f/d)

Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive intern to join the Riemann Lab at Huawei’s Munich Research Center. The Riemann Lab is Huawei’s main department focused on map and geospatial technologies. This position will assist in the development of research and technologies related to geospatial cognition, through deep learning and large language models.

Intern/Working Student in R&D for 3D Scene Generation (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Literature Review – Survey state-of-the-art diffusion models, 3D representations (NeRF, 3DGS), and text-to-3D alignment techniques.


• Algorithm Implementation – Develop and train ML/DL models for 3D scene synthesis, integrating reconstruction methods (NeRF, SLAM) for geometric consistency.


• Result Evaluation – Benchmark generation quality, diversity, and text alignment against leading methods.

Your areas of expertise

• Knowledge and experience in generative modeling (e.g., diffusion models, rectified flow, VAEs, autoregressive models) and their applications in 2D/3D synthesis


• Experience working with 3D scene reconstruction methods such as NeRF, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), or SLAM


• Strong Python and PyTorch engineering skills, with experience building research-grade, scalable ML tools


• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team, bridging research and production environments.


• Knowledge of graph theory and GIS is a plus


• Fluent in written and spoken English is required
