Arbeitsbeschreibung - Guitar Instrumental Teacher (Music Academy)

General Description

The Guitar Instrumental Teacher is a member of the ISZL Music Academy team, responsible for providing high-quality brass tuition to students in the primary, middle, and/or high school, typically scheduled before or after the regular school day. This role involves nurturing students’ technical skills, musical understanding, and enjoyment of playing a brass instrument, through both individual and small group lessons. The teacher supports ISZL's ethos of developing the whole child through music and contributes to ensemble opportunities and performances as appropriate.

*This is an hourly contract position only, with no guaranteed minimum hours. It is not a salaried part-time role. It does not qualify for a work permit.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Teach individual and/or group guitar lessons as scheduled.
  • Tailor instruction to suit the age, level, and learning needs of each student, supporting their development from beginner through to more advanced levels.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with parents regarding student progress, lesson times, and practice expectations.
  • Support and encourage student participation in school ensembles, recitals, and performances.
  • Contribute to the wider Music Academy programme by attending staff meetings, concerts, and events as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, lesson content, and progress.
  • Prepare students for internal and external performance opportunities or music assessments, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with other instructional staff to create a cohesive and enriching learning environment that supports student growth and success.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialism in guitar with strong pedagogical experience.
  • Prior experience teaching young learners in a school or academy setting.
  • Passion for music education and nurturing student growth through the arts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team within a dynamic, student-centred learning environment.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • A degree in music and/or recognised instrumental teaching qualification preferred.
  • Candidates must have a Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or be approved for a Swiss work visa).
