🌍 Shape the Future of Climate Tech with Phlair!
Fossil fuels have powered our economy for decades—at the cost of pollution and a changing climate. At Phlair, we’re reversing that equation. With our cost-efficient, scalable electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, we pull CO₂ from the air to either store it permanently or repurpose it into CO₂-negative chemicals. Join us in enabling a carbon-negative future.
We’ve developed a breakthrough hydrolizer for acid/base regeneration, enabling scalable CO₂ capture. With partners like Frontier Climate, Stripe, and Shopify, we’re on track to make a global impact.
Our Project Dawn is our flagship initiative, setting the foundation to scale our technology and remove millions of tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere. We're one of the only seven DAC companies with a proven offtake agreement. Phlair is poised to become a technology leader, leveraging renewable energy and low-cost DAC to provide clean energy solutions that go beyond carbon removal.
We’re potentially hiring two Mechanical Engineering Working Students to support our Manufacturing and Stack Development teams.
Depending on your fit and team need, your mission may include:
Manufacturing Team
Design and implement mechanical systems that support safe, ergonomic production of electrochemical stacks.
Develop tooling and modular workstations for processing, handling, assembly, and transport.
Build simple, scalable systems to support material flow and logistics.
Collaborate across teams to turn pilot concepts into real infrastructure.
Stack Development Team
Design and implement mechanical solutions to advance the development of electrochemical stacks.
Support the design, construction, and commissioning of test stands and infrastructure for product testing.
Manufacture prototype and test components using laser cutting, waterjet cutting, metalworking, and 3D printing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform pilot concepts into operational systems.
BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
Hands-on prototyping or workshop experience.
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks).
Understanding of manufacturing ergonomics, mechanical safety, and manual handling.
Knowledge of processing metals and plastics: cutting, bending, machining, joining, tolerances.
Experience with mechanical simulations (e.g. FEA for stress, deformation, motion).
Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to design.
Hands-on: You keep going when things break and find ways to fix them.
Innovative: You critically think about what’s there and push better ideas forward.
Accountable: You take ownership, hit deadlines, and solve issues.
Self-driven: You stay on task and follow through without much oversight.
Adaptive: You switch easily between design, prototyping, and testing.
Basic knowledge of automation systems and industrial safety standards.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing (e.g. FIFO, Kanban, flow-based work).
German language skills for working with suppliers and contractors.
Onsite & Collaborative: Our offices in Ismaning, Germany, house our pilot plant, where we work physically on our product every day. The team collaborates closely in the office, five days a week.
Main Hub & Expansion: Our primary location is in Munich (Ismaning), Germany, and we’re launching our Edmonton, Canada team in late 2025/2026.
