Job Description - Airport and Business Systems Head

International Airport of Heraklion, Crete S.A. is currently looking for a:

Airport and Business Systems Head

Role responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the service delivery, operational planning and control of the airport business and corporate systems, in order to maintain business continuity and meet the goals and objectives in line with the business goals of Heraklion Crete International Airport.
  • Ensures that the airport and business corporate systems availability remains at no less than 99% on an annual basis.
  • Ensures that all airport and business corporate systems and their interface communication links with 3rd parties (i.e. ISPs) remain operational on a 24-hour basis.
  • Manages IT operations and performance of IT airport and business corporate systems (both on-premises and hosted on the cloud) to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Supervises Airport IT systems teams to ensure the relevant systems availability.
  • Oversees IT problem management and incident management processes.
  • Manages the capacity management process and the associated update and development of the infrastructure.
  • Liaises with IT customer solutions for efficient IT incident management.
  • Liaises with the aviation business department for the smooth operation of IT systems.
  • Works with internal technical teams and lead vendors to propose overall technical solutions and key performance indicators to measure success.
  • Strategizes and develops system roadmap and implementation plans.
  • Performs proper project and change management to ensure delivered solutions meet technical, functional, performance and business requirements.
  • Sets general guidelines, perform, review, monitor, enhance and supervises the IT Operational Procedures as part of the continuous improvement effort.
  • Develops long range plans for systems development, replacement and hardware acquisition.
  • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports and makes recommendations on the improvement and growth of the IT airport and business corporate systems.
  • Ensures IT infrastructure designs and service models are consistent with current and future airport business needs and appropriate levels are in place.
  • Manages Disaster Recovery planning, documentation, Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity inputs and deliverables, of the airport and business corporate systems.
  • Manages all SLAs and MOUs of the airport and business corporate systems.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master's degree and relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM or other similar ISC2 certifications, CCNP) are considered a plus.
  • Certifications in IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Project Management (e.g. CITPM PMP, Prince2, Scrum) are preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of professional work experience in a complex airport environment in IT in a high volume, 24/7 operating environment, including project management, operations of large-scale enterprises, supervisory experience and customer service, is required.
  • Proven 5 years of experience specializing in IT Systems related to aviation and airport terminal operations (e.g. CUPPS, CUSS, BTRS, AODB, FIDS).
  • Considerable knowledge of the nature of aviation business.
  • Broad knowledge of platforms and systems used in the airport and aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of standard computer operating systems, hardware and support. 
  • Knowledge of operating characteristics of servers, server-based applications, data networking, relational databases and various protocols.
  • Broad knowledge of and experience in planning, installation, integration, operation and maintenance of advanced and diverse technologies that must be supported and operated with near 100% reliability in a 24 hour a day, 7 days per week environment.
  • Competent in cloud services, networking and servers and have experience in Enterprise support, and cost optimization.
  • Capable to resolve complex IT problems in a very short time which have key impact to smooth airport operations.

  • Organizational and project management, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), and ability to manage/work with contractors for project implementation and system maintenance and support works.
  • Ability to provide direction, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and drive projects to completion and on schedule, to scope, and within budget.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and manage high-performing IT teams.
  • Strong team spirit and sense of responsibility, good at discovering and solving problems.
  • Ability to identify customer needs, responsiveness, customer focus.
