Job Description - Health and Safety Officer

We are looking for an Health and Safety Officer in Limassol, Cyprus.

Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment: Implement the existing risk assessment conducted specifically for our premises for potential hazards in the workplace, such as chemical, physical, biological, or ergonomic risks.
  • Developing Policies and Procedures: Developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with Cyprus's health and safety legislation.
  • Training and Education: Providing training and education to employees on health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Inspecting Workplaces: Regularly inspecting workplaces to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and identifying any potential hazards or violations.
  • Investigating Incidents: Investigating accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine their root causes and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintaining Records: Maintaining accurate records of inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety equipment maintenance.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Collaborating with management, employees, and relevant stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and address health and safety concerns.
  • Keeping Up-to-Date: Staying informed about changes in health and safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards, and implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety of employees in the event of emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
  • Promoting Health and Well-being: Promoting employee health and well-being initiatives, such as ergonomics programs, wellness activities, and mental health support services.

Requirements

  • Health and Safety Certificate of 130 hours approved from the department of labor inspection (based on ΚΔΠ 238/2021).
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and standards, including preparing guidelines. Conduct regular inspections of work areas, equipment, and procedures to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures. Educate staff on safety protocols and best practices to minimize accidents and injuries. Prepare appropriate teams and representatives.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of incidents and report findings to management.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees on topics such as proper lifting techniques, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition. Provide ongoing support and guidance to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing equipment, conducting preventive maintenance checks, and troubleshooting mechanical issues. Ensure that facilities are properly maintained and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols. Coordinate with emergency services and oversee drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports for management outlining compliance status, incident trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations and industry best practices. Proactively identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to enhance safety performance.
  • Safe Keeping of all the company premises based on regulations and updating of all policies and procedures.

Qualification that can be a plus:

  • Experience in h & s management.
  • Experience in Construction Work will be an consider as an advantage.
  • Russian Language.
