Job Description - Lecturer in Cybersecurity (School of Sciences)

UCLan Cyprus, one of the fastest developing universities in Cyprus, continues to expand its academic portfolio, and invites applications for Academic Staff to join its team.

The opening is for the appointment of a full-time Lecturer, for teaching and research as follows:

SCHOOL OF SCIENCES

  • Lecturer in Cybersecurity

Required:

  • A PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with a significant relevance to computer security. Applications from scholars who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting their viva are accepted.
  • A record of research achievement, within the wider area of computer security.
  • For the position of Assistant Professor there is an additional requirement of at least three years of experience with teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education, as well as a proven research record in the field of computer security.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English.

Desired:

  • Experience with the UK Higher Education sector.
  • Experience with leadership roles, such as Course Leadership.
  • Certification(s) of teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education, such as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Experience with CPD and professional training.

Duties:

  • Lecturing at all levels of the academic programmes in the School.
  • To make a contribution to achieving the academic objectives in the School through teaching, research and income-generating activities.
  • To act as module leader for a number of identified modules.
  • To undertake administrative duties relevant to module leadership (administer course registers, assessment records, learning programmes and other records).
  • To engage with the recruitment of students onto courses and to provide appropriate advice on progression and career opportunities.
  • To adhere to quality assurance and enhancement systems to ensure high standards are maintained and the student experience is enhanced.
  • To contribute to the development of the School’s commercial activities, including consultancy, training and funded projects.
  • To participate in research as an individual or part of a team.
  • To develop and consolidate contacts with industry/ employers and other external organisations.
  • To undertake any other duties relevant to the School’s activities and commensurate with the level of the post, as directed by the Head of School.

This is a 3-year position in the first instance.
