Job Description - Network / WiFi Engineer

The Network Engineer II - WIFI will act as an experienced contributing member of the Global Network team at ITT with a special focus on implementing, supporting and maintaining ITT’s WiFi network globally. The ideal candidate will have experience in administration and support of Cisco and other WiFi technologies as well as good understanding WiFi network architecture and design. This individual will work on all production, development, and corporate networks. The Network Engineer will also work closely with the Cyber Ops, Hosting, Identity Management and Technical Assistance Center to ensure a strong and robust network is always available. Strong Service Level Agreement (SLA) responsibilities and strict change control are synonymous with this role.

  • Directly responsible for all aspects of the design, maintenance, and support of the organization's wireless networks
  • Participate in the development of solutions to address wireless connectivity, reliability, and performance issues
  • Perform wireless site surveys, tune Access Point radios, recommend placement changes as needed
  • Collaborate with a team of security and networking engineers to ensure the security and efficiency of ITT global network.
  • Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions / options.
  • Verify all hardware and software purchase orders are appropriate prior to submission to the Network Manager
  • Participate in the design and daily maintenance of computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and other data communications solutions.
  • Assist team members in performing designs and peer reviews of network systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Prepare network diagrams / documentation as needed.
  • Manage network maintenance contracts and renewals for accuracy to ensure proper coverage is in place.
  • 5+ Years of network management and network operations support related experience, preferably at a large network enterprise
  • Familiarity with management and care-and-feeding of Cisco Wireless LAN controllers
  • Understanding of Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) troubleshooting and management
  • Experience in network incident resolution for layer 2 and 3 availability incidents, performance incidents, and resolutions requiring team-based resolution with peers and vendors
  • Experience and hands-on knowledge in analyzing packet captures, capable of isolating abnormal client-host communication
  • Comprehensive understanding of Cisco Wireless Network architecture, design, configuration, and operations is required
  • Experience with Cisco configuration
  • High-level knowledge of routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF & BGP is required.
  • High-level knowledge of Cisco Wireless solutions platforms with WLCs on AirOS & IOS XE, is required.
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct Wireless surveys.
  • CCNA is required.
  • AAA experience (i.e., Cisco ISE) preferred .
  • CCNP Wireless / CWNE certification or better preferred.
  • Palo Alto firewall experience preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the architecture, implementation, and support of enterprise level networks and wireless solutions.
  • Fluency in English required.

Work Conditions

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • This role requires availability for planned off-hours work and scheduled on-call as needed.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate power tools, computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
