Senior Accountant

As an Senior Accountant , you will be part of our Accounting team in Athens and you'll play a crucial part in the supervision of the accounts payable and operations expense recording, control the general ledger accounting for all Group entities and assist with the monthly financial closing process and the financial statements preparation.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Accountant at Qualco will include: 

• Oversee and lead the vendor invoice processing process ensuring adequate capturing of costs dimensions and the 2 and 3-way matching of expenses in the ERP system;
• Perform key general ledger accounts reconciliations, review accrual postings and perform monthly variance analysis of expenses and revenues to ensure that accounting ledgers are complete and accurate;
• Assist with the month-end financial closing process ensuring that all discrepancies are timely resolved and that deadlines are met;
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and workflow quality; identify and suggest ways to further exploit ERP’s automated posting features;
• Collaborate with the other members of the finance team (controlling, procurement and tax) to enhance processes, procedures and establish best practices in transactions processing and cost control;
• Assist with the accounting consolidation process of the Group entities leading to the preparation of accurate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in compliance with the Group financial policies and the IFRSs;
• Support with the accounting on-boarding of new entities acquired and with the monitoring of accounting of group subsidiaries and associates;
• Support with the implementation of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation system across the Group entities, and;
• Support with the accounting aspects of ad-hoc strategic projects.
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

Requirements

To be considered you should have:

• University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent;
• Experience of 8+ years working experience (of which 2+ in a senior accounting role) preferably in large group entities or in accounting outsourcing services of Big 5 audit & consulting firms;
• Proficient in accounting software and working with large ERP systems; specific experience in Microsoft D365 systems and/or SAP BPC reporting software will be considered as assets;
• Professional accountancy qualification or working towards gaining one (ACCA, ACA, CPA, SOEL, Tax qualifications) will be considered as assets;
• Experience in producing statutory financial statements based on IFRSs,
• Excellent skill level in all Microsoft Office Programs;
• Strong communication and social skills, and;
• Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking and shifting priorities quickly under pressure and tight deadlines.
