Our E-Assessment department develops the Hogrefe Test System (HTS), a web platform for comprehensive online psychological assessments. Our e-assessment tech team consists of over 40 people: Software Engineers, Psychologists, Support, Software Testers, UX/UI Designers as well as Scrum Masters and Product Owners who develop, learn and progress together. We are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team as soon as possible. Use your skills and experience to take our platform to the next level.

Your tasks

• You develop elegant, reliable and efficient technical solutions, demonstrating your creativity and problem-solving skills
• You ensure that our quality meets the highest standards to contribute to an exceptional user experience that we can be proud of
• You champion quality by writing and maintaining unit and integration tests to ensure our software components are robust and reliable
• You utilize the possibilities of automation and proactively look for ways to improve our software development processes and reduce technical complexities
• You create system architectures and software designs and actively shape the future of our applications
• You will be involved in troubleshooting, error correction and the provision of software versions on our production systems and contribute to the smooth operation of our software
• Coaching other team members on best practices
• Working in a collaborative environment where designs and solutions are reviewed and you actively share your knowledge, helping to continuously improve our work together

Your profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a comparable field or comparable professional experience
• At least three years of professional experience as a software engineer in the field of web applications
• Good knowledge of Java and other modern web technologies
• You have experience in dealing with legacy systems and know how to modernize them step by step or are familiar with event-driven architecture
• You take a holistic approach to software products, from development to operational excellence
• Work experience in agile software development teams
• You are able to troubleshoot and debug complex software issues and have excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• You have a strong sense of ownership and are comfortable with ambiguity
• You work independently, are a team player and a strong communicator in English, both orally and in writing; knowledge of German is an advantage
