Vessel ICT Engineer

At Minerva Marine, we are seeking for a highly motivated Vessel ICT Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Vessel ICT Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing the on-board IT systems and communication networks across our fleet of vessels, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and smooth sailing.

In this exciting position, you will collaborate closely with both the onboard crew and onshore teams, working together to install, configure, and maintain the vessel's cutting-edge ICT infrastructure. Your expertise will also be essential in resolving any network or system issues that may arise, working hand in hand with relevant stakeholders to troubleshoot and rectify them promptly.

As a member of the team you will:

• Inspect and maintain all ICT systems and equipment onboard the vessel, including satellite communication systems, computer networks, routers, switches, servers, and various software applications.
• Respond promptly to technical issues and breakdowns, diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems to minimize disruptions to operations.
• Serve as the main point of contact for crew members, providing guidance, training, and drafting comprehensive and detailed manuals.
• Attend vessels to upgrade ICT systems onboard and ensure that the crew is knowledgeable about proper usage and handling. Maintain records of system performance, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of the vessel's ICT infrastructure.
• Implement technical solutions in accordance with cyber security procedures and propose improvements as needed. Contribute to risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Certifications in networking, cyber security, or maritime-specific ICT technologies are a big plus
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
• Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English
• Expertise in computer hardware installation and troubleshooting
• Proven experience in satellite communications, firewall/VPN/security
• Skilled in network and systems administration and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms
• Experience in providing first-level support
• Willingness to travel internationally
• Ability to effectively implement and follow up on IT projects
