Job Description - Collections Officer - Part-Time

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Collections Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. As a Collections Officer, you will be responsible for managing overdue accounts ensuring timely collections through effective oral and written communication with customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate customer account receivable records via processing collections, when necessary.
  • Contact customers or clients with overdue accounts via phone, email, or mail to remind them of their outstanding balance and ensure collection.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns regarding their accounts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on the severity of delinquency.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement offers with customers, in coordination with department manager and, in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Follow up with customers on payment commitments and escalate delinquent accounts to management when necessary.
  • Document all communication and actions taken regarding overdue accounts accurately and timely.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies or disputes in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, legal, and customer service to resolve complex issues and improve collection processes.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection practices to ensure compliance.
  • Achieve individual and team collection targets and performance goals set by the company.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a similar role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Persistence, resilience, and a positive attitude when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Previous experience in customer service or sales is an asset.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, on a part time basis.
