Job Description - Data Reliability Engineer, Leading Banking Technology (120k)

  • 2 years contract, highly renewable; Support APAC front, back office team

About Our Client

Based in Hong Kong, you will ensure the availability, accuracy, and timeliness of data used across trading, risk, and operational teams. You will act as the first line of intervention in the Asia timezone, ensuring smooth daily operations and preventing data-related disruptions.

Job Description
  • Diagnose, mitigate, and resolve data incidents including pipeline failures, delayed loads, schema changes, and data quality issues.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, run post-incident reviews, and maintain detailed runbooks and playbooks.
  • Implement end-to-end monitoring covering pipeline health, data quality checks, schema evolution detection, and data lineage.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines across diverse sources, incorporating business logic, security, and retention requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, Dealers, Back Office teams, and global technology colleagues to understand requirements and resolve data-related challenges.
  • Support proof-of-concept initiatives as new data technologies evolve.
  • Stay current with industry best practices to enhance reliability, automation, and efficiency.
The Successful Applicant
  • Min. 5+ years' experience in modern data engineering or data operations in finance sector.
  • Proven experience supporting and maintaining production data pipelines.
  • Strong SQL skills and practical experience with Java or another object-oriented language.
  • Experience building pipelines for data warehouse, data lake, or lakehouse architectures.
  • Familiarity with enterprise job schedulers such as Control-M or similar.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines andKubernetes (preferably Red HatOpenShift).
  • Familiarity with ArgoCD, Helm, or Kustomize.
  • Strong Python skills.
