Director - Capital Optimisation

The Company
Our client is a leading global bank with a highly regarded Group Treasury function. The organization is undertaking a strategic programme to enhance capital efficiency across its global footprint, covering multiple regulatory jurisdictions and complex prudential frameworks. To support this agenda, the bank is seeking an experienced Director - Capital Optimisation to join its Hong Kong office on a temp‑to‑perm basis. This role offers high visibility, senior stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to influence capital strategy across the Group.

The Role
As Director - Capital Optimisation, you will serve as a senior subject matter expert across regulatory capital, Treasury disciplines and capital efficiency. You will lead deep‑dive reviews into entity and Group‑level capital positions, identify optimisation levers across CET1, RWA, leverage ratio, large exposures and funding, and size opportunities using diagnostics, MI and regulatory constraintsKey responsibilities include:

• Leading capital efficiency assessments across key markets and business entities.
• Acting as a senior expert in regulatory capital with strong knowledge of PRA, Fed, HKMA, EBA and other major supervisory frameworks.
• Running capital deep dives to identify optimisation levers and assess feasibility against policy, risk appetite and operational considerations.
• Developing business cases including cost/benefit analysis, payback, financial impacts and EP/ROTE considerations.
• Partnering with teams across Treasury, Finance, Risk and the business to define requirements, assign ownership and create implementation plans.
• Driving execution through structured workstreams, milestone tracking, issue escalation and progress reporting.
• Providing subject matter expertise during delivery to ensure initiatives are implemented effectively and benefits are realised.
• Supporting additional Group Treasury initiatives such as M&A capital analysis, complex transactions and regulatory advocacy across markets.
• Preparing insights, documentation and presentations for senior management and governance committees.

Your Profile

• Experienced Treasury or Capital Management professional with strong expertise in regulatory capital frameworks and a proven track record delivering capital optimisation initiatives within global financial institutions.
• Extensive experience in Treasury, capital management, capital policy, balance sheet management or related areas within large banks or consulting firms.
• Deep knowledge of Basel rules, RWA frameworks, CET1 components, leverage ratio, large exposure requirements and capital buffers.
• Proven experience leading end‑to‑end capital optimisation from opportunity identification through execution and benefit realisation.
