Job Description - Assistant Manager - Industry Development, Construction Business Development

The applicant must possess

  1. a recognised degree, preferably with post-graduate qualifications in engineering / surveying / architecture or other construction relevant disciplines
  2. a minimum of 7 years' post-qualification work experience in engineering / surveying / architecture or other construction related fields
  3. relevant exposure / experience in repair, maintenance, alteration and addition (RMAA) works, tendering, dealing with construction contracts, subletting, dispute resolution, or project management will be favourably considered
  4. good understanding of commercial considerations and business practices in the local construction and the RMAA market
  5. hands on experience in providing secretariat support to public bodies or sizable organisations would be a distinct advantage
  6. excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
  7. a high level of integrity and a sense of accountability
  8. strong interpersonal and communication skills and
  9. a proactive, resourceful, energetic character and can work independently with minimal supervision.

Duties include
  1. to take an active approach in identifying opportunities to promulgate the utilisation of innovative solutions and technology for procurement and project management
  2. to assist in developing and implementing initiatives to foster an efficient and healthy construction market, in particular on RMAA works, through worker training, promotion and education, standardisation and supervision
  3. to implement strategies and pragmatic solutions for promulgating those initiatives, such as preparing reference materials, stakeholder engagement, organising webinars and physical events, promotion campaign, exhibitions, liaising with construction practitioners, site visits etc.
  4. to undertake special projects, including but not limited to development of RMAA technical and safety leaflets, guidelines and reference materials
  5. to provide secretariat support to the Committees, Sub-Committees and Task Forces and to implement their workplans and also to assist for internal administration works
  6. to prepare work plans, study briefs, research / summary / site visit reports, papers, guidelines, standards, documents of technical nature as well as any other relevant documents to facilitate discussion by the Committees
  7. to proactively contribute ideas and engage with different ID departments and functional teams to show collaborative effort and deliver tasks in good quality and
  8. to carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
