Climate Change Manager

Department: Group Sustainable Development Department (GSD)

This position is responsible for planning and executing Cathay Pacific Group’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) strategy under climate change strategy to contribute the company’s target of ‘10% SAF usage by 2030’ and ‘net zero carbon emissions by 2050’. This includes tracking and engaging with policies related to SAF and other aircraft-related environmental policies in Hong Kong and overseas,being responsible for SAF policy lobbying as well as partnership management in HK and oeverseas, and developing SAF accounting system. Additionally, the manager also is responsible for reviewing and updating the company's climate-related policies and supporting other initiatives from other teams on SAF as well as capturing oppportunities brought about by SAF. 

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for tracking SAF policy development in HK and overseas as well as other aircraft operation related environmental policies such as carbon market, aircraft noise, air pollutions in HK and overseas.
• Responsible for SAF policy lobbying: directly with local regulators and indirectly with other stakeholders in SAF value chain.
• Responsible for SAF partnership management: establish and maintain cooperations with different kinds of stakeholders in SAF value chain such as airlines, industry NGOs, R&Ds, SAF potential suppliers in HK and overseas. 
• Responsible for developing SAF accounting based on robust chain-of-custody approach within the company.
• Responsible for reviewing and updating company climate related policy and update other Business Units about the policy development in HK and overseas.
• Support other initiatives from other teams on SAF as well as other aircraft operation related environment issues, etc.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the area of aviation environment especially climate change, renewable energy, public policy with detailed knowledge of environmental policy process being a plus; knowledge on policy process especially in HK and oversea; experience on partnership with upstream and downstream in aviation climate change.
• Master’s Degree in the field of aviation environment, environment social and economic analysis, public policy or similar
• A team player; strong interpersonal & communication skill; ability to work well independently and in a team environment; pioneer spirit and intrapreneurship; experience of working in a cross-cultural and highly matrixed organisation; demonstrated experience in conflict management and multi-task capability
• Knowledge of aviation climate change, sustainable aviation fuel especially regarding the whole value chain of SAF. 
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Knowing Chinese & Mandarin will be a plus.
