Head of General Trade

Job description

​Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the sales strategy for the general trade channel, in alignment with the overall business objectives. Identify growth opportunities, set sales targets, and devise action plans to achieve them.

• Continuously monitor market trends and competitor activities to drive market penetration and gain a competitive edge.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including distributors, wholesalers, and retailers.

• Collaborate closely with the sales team to develop account-specific strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure optimal product placement and visibility. Monitor sales performance and take proactive measures to address any issues or gaps.

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of sales professionals.

• Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and customer focus. Set clear goals and expectations, and regularly assess individual and team achievements.

• Conduct thorough market analysis, evaluate sales data, and gather insights to forecast market demand and optimize inventory planning.

• Monitor sales trends, identify opportunities for growth, and implement corrective actions as needed.

• Provide accurate and timely sales reports and analysis to senior management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field

• Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within the consumer goods industry, with a focus on general trade channels.

• In-depth knowledge of general trade market dynamics, retail operations, and distribution networks.

• Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive sales growth and achieve targets.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret sales data and market insights.

• Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
