Manager, Project Accounting

What you'll do:

• Act as Project Accounting Center of Excellence (COE) of the Council providing advice to finance team and business divisions on income and expense recognition methodology for the evolving business models.
• Supervise Government funded project accounting team to ensure bookkeeping are performed according to Hong Kong Accounting Standard and Funding Guidelines and on-time submission of financial reports and audit accounts.
• Liaise with external auditors and coordinate with project managers on progress reports and project audits
• Owner of SAP revenue recognition protocol. Develop user requirements in enhancing project analytics and control in the ERP and coordinate system enhancement projects with finance users and IT team
• Lead the reconciliation of project financial accounts with SAP ledger, play the controllership role in ensuring relevant balance sheet accounts are properly substantiated on a monthly basis.
• Supervise the preparation of monthly settlement statements and bank instructions to disburse funds from project bank accounts accurately.
• Assist in ad-hoc assignments and reporting as required

You'll be a good fit if you have/are:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 8 years of solid experience in management accounting and project accounting
• Qualifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
• Proven experience in a finance leadership role within a project-based consulting business
• Demonstrated expertise in understanding end-to-end project accounting process and income and expense recognition methodology
• Experience in financial reporting for government-funded projects an advantage
• Attention to detail, proactivity, and strong initiative, communication, and presentation skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, with hands-on experience in SAP
