Role Purpose:

As a Media Operations Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage media buying operations at a regional level. You will play a crucial role in optimizing media campaigns and ensuring efficient ad placements. Additionally, your role will require a strong understanding of ad tech-related matters to effectively navigate the complexities of the digital advertising ecosystem.

A typical day in this Role:  

  • Media Buying and Planning: Develop and execute media buying strategies and plans to achieve marketing and advertising objectives. Collaborate with internal marketing teams and external media agencies to identify target audiences, select media channels, negotiate media rates, and allocate media budgets effectively.
  • Ad Tech Management: Stay abreast of ad tech trends, tools, and platforms to optimize media buying and campaign performance. Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement and manage ad tech solutions, such as demand-side platforms, data management platforms, and ad verification tools.
  • Campaign Optimization: Monitor and analyze media campaign performance, including key metrics such as impressions, click-through rates, conversion rates, and return on ad spend. Identify optimization opportunities and implement strategies to improve campaign effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with media vendors, publishers, and technology partners to ensure smooth execution of media campaigns. Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable terms, troubleshoot issues, and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on media campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders. Develop and utilize analytics tools and methodologies to track campaign effectiveness, measure ROI, and evaluate media buying strategies.
  • Budget Management: Manage media budgets at the regional level, ensuring optimal allocation and adherence to financial targets. Monitor spending, track invoices, and reconcile budget discrepancies as needed.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices related to media buying, data privacy, and ad fraud prevention. Ensure compliance with applicable policies and standards, and implement appropriate safeguards to protect the brand's reputation and customer data.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, creative, and analytics teams, to align media buying strategies with broader marketing objectives. Foster effective communication and collaboration to ensure seamless execution of media campaigns.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in media buying, planning, and ad operations, preferably within the retail industry or an advertising agency.
  • Strong understanding of ad tech-related matters, including demand-side platforms, data management platforms, ad servers, and ad verification tools.
  • Proficiency in media buying platforms and tools, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, or programmatic buying platforms.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize campaigns.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing metrics, tracking technologies, and attribution models.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, data privacy, and ad fraud prevention measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
