Technology Development Manager

The appointee will be responsible for research and technology development. Main duties include (1) designing technological solutions and writing technical proposals for R&D projects (include but not limited to applications of HKSAR Innovation and Technology Fund) by consolidating the project ideas from faculty members and liaising with industry companies, service providers and other external partners; (2) technology development including experimental setup, technical design, prototyping, testing and evaluation, etc.; (3) providing consultation and support to faculty members on technical idea generation, feasibility evaluation, competitive analysis and patent plan; (4) preparing relevant proposals and reports; (5) presenting project proposals and project outcomes in various occasions; and (6) performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor/ Director of Knowledge Transfer.

Duty trips outside Hong Kong may be occasionally required. The appointee needs to work off-campus at times and be flexible in working hours. The appointment will be for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Applicants should have a Bachelor Degree with normally 7 years or more of relevant administrative / management post-qualification experience. Those with a Master or Doctorate Degree in industrial product design & engineering/ information engineering/ computer science/ material science/other related engineering discipline are preferred. They should have a track record in generating technical specifications from capturing user requirements, developing technologies with experience in liaising with service contractors, implementing user trials, refining prototypes and promoting project outcomes. Applicants with solid experience in local research and development centres (ASTRI, LSCM, etc.) or universities would be an advantage. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 10% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits.
