Job Description - Assistant Manager (Visual Communications) in the City University of Hong Kong Press

Assistant Manager (Visual Communications) in the City University of Hong Kong Press [Ref. A/802/03]

Duties
The appointee is expected to:

  1. Lead and supervise a team of in-house designers to deliver the full spectrum of design and production services to the CityU community (including conceptualisation, art direction, development and delivery of creative solutions for print/digital media);
  2. Ensure the highest standards of quality management throughout the design process by conducting regular reviews and providing constructive feedback to the team;
  3. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in order to explore new design services for the Press and the University;
  4. Enhance the digital creative production process and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams;
  5. Coordinate with outsourcing design firms and monitor their progress;
  6. Be responsible for events/exhibition management;
  7. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including internal departments and vendors, to ensure the smooth delivery of the service; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Design or related disciplines, with at least 10 years’ relevant experience in graphic design or print production.

Proficiency in Mac and Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); strong sense of creativity and design, and responsibility; a keen eye for details with high expectations of quality and delivery; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; self-motivated and a good team leader with ability to work independently are required. Good command of written and spoken English would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes
