Job Description - Assistant Academic Service Manager

The Registry is a key central administrative unit of the University supporting it in providing quality higher education. We administer and deliver a broad range of student and academic services, such as admissions, registration, quality assurance, class scheduling, examinations, and graduation. The Registry is also responsible for maintaining student records and providing secretarial support to Senate and its committees, and are integral in the governing of academic regulations of the University. We provide aspiring candidates with ample staff development opportunities and a promising career in higher education.

 

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Registry:

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

 

  • Leading the supporting staff in the provision of administrative services and support in the Examinations & Assessment Team of the Registry;
  • Administering assignment-related activities;
  • Administering examination-related activities such as formulation of examination timetable, examination materials and logistics, appointment of invigilators and examiners, special examination arrangements, examination scripts and results handling, etc. ;
  • Liaising with academic/administrative units and external parties on assignment and examination related functions;
  • Assisting in policy review and implementation;
  • Assisting in system review and enhancement; and
  • Providing support to committee work;
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Registrar or his/her nominee(s).

 

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A recognized degree with at least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification administrative and supervisory experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua;
  • Strong analytical skills, multi-tasking skills, attentive to details and proactive;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Capability to work under pressure and tight schedule.
  • Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.

 

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
