Job Description - Assistant Information Technology Manager / Project Manager

SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

Assistant Information Technology Manager / Project Manager )

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various academic and administrative departments to gather requirements, analyse needs, and propose cutting-edge IT solutions;
  • Assist in the design, development, and management of IT projects;
  • Oversee tendering processes, from document preparation to vendor selection, ensuring alignment with project objectives and compliance with institutional and IT security standards;
  • Select and manage vendors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and products;
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure on-time delivery of services and products, adherence to project scope, schedules, and budget compliance through regular monitoring and performance evaluations; 
  • Develop and manage comprehensive test plans to ensure system reliability and performance; and
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the School’s information systems. 

Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor’s degree or higher in an IT-related discipline;
  • At least 7 years of relevant proven experience with at least 3 years leading the development team in systems design, development, and project management of enterprise-level information systems;
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerBuilder, Java, PHP, and Python would be highly desirable;
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and experience with low-code programming platforms would be beneficial;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent and demonstrated experience in the Agile project management methodologies preferable;
  • Proven ability to draft test plans and maintain detailed system documentation;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders; 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese.

The initial appointment for the above post will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years.Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
