Job Description - Manager - Curriculum Development & Support

The applicant must possess

  1. a recognised degree or post-graduate qualification in education / training / languages / mathematics or related disciplines. Teacher certificate or diploma is preferred;
  2. a minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience in overseeing or teaching Generic (Foundation) competencies subjects (e.g. English, Chinese, communication skills, mathematics, or IT) in education and / or vocational training institutions with experience in leading a team;
  3. good understanding of Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) and outcomes-based education;
  4. proven experience in leading projects and curriculum development, including design, development and review;
  5. knowledge and experience in Construction Industry will be an advantage;
  6. excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;
  7. good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation; and
  8. proactive, resourceful, detail-minded, and can work independently and well in teams.

Duties include

  1. to lead a team comprising of lecturers, teaching associates and programme developers in designing, reviewing and running Generic (Foundation) competencies subjects in construction programmes;
  2. to develop a curriculum framework for the integration of Generic (Foundation) competencies subjects into knowledge-based and practice-oriented construction programmes from QF Levels 2 to 4;
  3. to ensure the Generic (Foundation) competencies elements are outcomes-based and contextualised to the needs of the Construction Industry, taking into account good principles of curriculum development and HKQF requirements;
  4. to oversee the production of learning & teaching materials, and ensure they are periodically being updated and maintain relevance;
  5. to assist in the accreditation exercises internally and externally;
  6. to coordinate with different teaching teams and campus staff for the smooth running of the Generic (Foundation) competencies subjects and take up some teaching duties on a needs basis;
  7. to liaise with the industry, employers, professional bodies, Government representatives, etc. to identify needs of Generic (Foundation) competencies in the construction workplace;
  8. to provide support to committees and management meetings including preparing papers and reports according to the required format and timeframe; and
  9. to carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
