Job Description - Officer (Student Mobility Team)

Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong Department / Section : Student Development Office
Ref. no : O/THEi-SDO/OFF/05/24The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi or Institute) offers 22 innovative degree programmes across our 6 Academic Departments, namely Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology, that are vocationally and professionally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and also accredited by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate. THEi prepares Work Ready, Future Ready graduates through our strong applied degree and professional education programmes. All programmes require work integrated learning (WIL) and engage students inactive learning pedagogies including a strong focus on project-based learning involving real-world problem solving with and for local industries and professions. THEi partners closely with industry to provide intensive internship and project opportunities. Students also actively participate in knowledge exchange activities to develop professional insights. Major Duties:
(a) To provide relevant services and support for student exchanges (inbound and outbound), student participation in study trips, international events, competitions, and other related student mobility activities locally and in overseas countries;
(b) To assist in exploring, coordinating and promoting internal and external funding schemes to support students’ participation in student mobility activities;
(c) To collaborate with different units/departments on developing/executing plans and evaluating outcomes of student mobility activities;
(d) To assist in arranging campus events to promote student mobility activities to students as well as internal and external parties;
(e) To assist in seeking collaboration with local and overseas partnering institutes or organisations on student exchange/internship opportunities;
(f) To lead student teams to join overseas exchange/study trips, international events, or competitions;
(g) To arrange the selection process for identifying qualified students to participate in exchange activities, competitions, sports and interest activities;
(h) To assist in the compilation of reports, statistics, and the preparation of presentation slides for various meetings and events; and
(i) To liaise with internal and external parties in matters related to student mobility activities. Requirements:
(a) A recognised degree or equivalent qualification;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant experience at supervisory level, preferably in educational institutions or comparable organisations;
(c) Qualification and experience in physical education and/or sports training in youth or education institutions will be an advantage;
(d) A high level of written and spoken language proficiency in both English and Chinese, as well as fluency in Putonghua; and
(e) Strong interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work under pressure and in a dynamic environment. Notes:
(1) Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend and pass a written test.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside of Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(4) The appointee will work on Chai Wan Campus.
