Job Description - Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi or Institute) offers 22 innovative degree programmes across our 6 Academic Departments, namely Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology, that are vocationally and professionally oriented and developed with significant industry input.  All programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and also accredited by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate.  THEi prepares Work Ready, Future Ready graduates through our strong applied degree and professional education programmes.  All programmes require work integrated learning (WIL) and engage students inactive learning pedagogies including a strong focus on project-based learning involving real-world problem solving with and for local industries and professions.  THEi partners closely with industry to provide intensive internship and project opportunities.  Students also actively participate in knowledge exchange activities to develop professional insights.  THEi is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation with a commitment to greening and sustainability.

Major Duties :

The appointee shall report to the Vice President (Academic) on the planning, development, implementation and review of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Digital Transformation programme.  The Programme aims to develop students’ understanding and capability to become digital transformers, manage transformation and innovation in the current business environment.  The Programme will offer two specialised streams, one in ‘Digital Business and Leadership’ and the other in ‘Digital Technology and Innovation’.

The appointee will need to provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development of programme modules both in finance and accounting, digital technology and innovation, digital operation and cyber security in business; taking part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programme.  The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutes on collaborative arrangement to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme.  Experience in new programme development and accreditation is highly preferred.

The appointee will provide face-to-face and potentially online instruction at the graduate or undergraduate level in both business administration and related courses as well as maintaining a record of excellence in teaching, student advising and career mentoring.  The appointee at Professor / Associate Professor rank will be required to oversee the MBA and related programmes and be heavily involved in the accreditation of the MBA degree programme.  S/he will also have the unique opportunity to lead the inaugural Master degree programme of THEi.

Requirements :

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Digital Business; Information Technology; Digital Technology and Innovation or related disciplines, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrate achievement (or good potential for achievement) in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:

(a)

Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or

(b)

Received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(c)

Had at least 3 years' work experience in Mainland China or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions (Singapore, Taiwan, Macao, etc.); or

(d)

Achieved at least Grade Two Level B in the Putonghua Proficiency Test.

The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.

(3)

The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The appointee will work on Chai Wan Campus.
