Information Technology Officer

DEPARTMENT OF LOGISTICS AND MARITIME STUDIES Information Technology Officer (Ref. 240410018-IE) Duties The appointee will be required to: (a) provide day-to-day desktop and end-user IT support and troubleshooting services on assigned software, hardware and audio-visual systems; (b) carry out technical assistance and field support to meetings, seminars and activities such as video conferencing and live video streaming; (c) assist in the maintenance and technical development of various web-based systems; (d) assist in the maintenance of Cloud server systems; (e) assist in keeping an updated record of and the disposal of various IT-related inventory items; and (f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department or his delegates. Qualifications Applicants should have: (a) a recognised degree in Information Technology or equivalent qualification with at least five years of relevant work experience; (b) solid work experience in supporting PC software and hardware, networking technologies, server administration and audio-visual equipment; (c) the ability to work independently and under pressure in providing consultation to staff and students on the use of the network, PCs and audio-visual related equipment; (d) solid programming knowledge of and experience in ASP, PHP, Java, Python, JavaScript and SQL; (e) good communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as good team spirit; and (f) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to those who have knowledge of eLearning platforms and experience in supporting online teaching and learning in an educational environment. Conditions of Service A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
