Assistant Manager / Manager, Custody Operations

Job Responsibilities:

Transaction Execution and Monitoring

• Execute trade instructions received from portfolio managers, brokers, or clients for various financial instruments, including but not limited to global equities, fixed income securities, investment funds, derivatives, and alternative investments.
• Monitor trade flow and verify trade details, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
• Confirm trade execution with brokers or counterparties and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.

Settlement Processing

• Facilitate the settlement process for trades, ensuring timely and accurate settlement of transactions.
• Coordinate with brokers, custodians, and other market participants to resolve any settlement exceptions or discrepancies.
• Monitor and reconcile cash and securities positions to ensure proper settlement and minimize settlement risk.

Record-Keeping and Documentation

• Ensure books & records are correct by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions, settlements, and related activities.
• Generate reports and documentation as required for internal and external stakeholders, including clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of trade confirmations, settlement instructions, and related correspondence.

Operational Support

• Provide operational support to internal teams, including Portfolio Management, Client Services, and Compliance, regarding custody and settlement matters.
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of client accounts and securities master files.
• Collaborate with custodians and sub-custodians to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth daily operations.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Adhere to internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Identify and escalate any potential compliance or operational risks to management.
• Assist in the implementation of risk mitigation measures and controls.

Job Requirements:

• Degree holder or above in Finance, Business Administration or related disciplines
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in custody operations, settlements, or a similar role within the financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of custody operations and settlement processes.
• Possess knowledge of financial instruments, including global equities, fixed income securities, investment funds, derivatives, and alternative investments.
• Detail-oriented with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
