Senior Legal Counsel

Founded in 1948, Chong Hing Bank is a well-established commercial bank in Hong Kong with a network of more than 40 branches and sub-branches. The Bank became a member of Yuexiu Group, one of the largest state-owned enterprises in Guangzhou, in 2014. In recent years, the Bank has been actively expanding its business in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. Responsibilities:

• Provide prompt, professional and high quality legal advice to all relevant business units to protect the Bank’s business and reputation
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of agreement documentation, aiming to reduce legal, operating and compliance risk of the Bank
• Support in projects including but not limited to new standards/ requirements of regulators, new business and products development, etc.
• Keep abreast of market development in relating to banking industry (e.g. HKMA and other regulator’s new requirements), evaluate and respond to the legal changes on the Bank and provide legal updates to business units when appropriate
• Maintain and implement the Bank’s Legal Risk Management Policy
• Contribute to legal and regulatory proceedings, prepare and maintain internal policies & procedures

Requirements:

• University graduate with a degree in Law
• HK qualified with 10 years’ PQE with in-depth knowledge of banking related laws
• In-house legal experience gained in banking or financial sector is highly preferable
• High awareness and up-to-date knowledge to evolving regulatory standards and well familiar with the latest requirements from HKMA, SFC and other regulators
• Hands-on experience in handling HKMA’s projects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and capable to accomplish tasks independently within deadline
• Responsive and logical decision-making and analytical abilities
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
• Candidate with less experience will be considered as Legal Counsel
