Job Description:
Sun Life Hong Kong's IT and Digital team is seeking an AI Product Owner to drive the definition, delivery, and ongoing optimization of AI-powered products and capabilities. Reporting to the AI Value Enablement Lead , this role translates the AI roadmap into an actionable product backlog, aligns stakeholders around clear outcomes, and partners with delivery teams to ship responsible, measurable AI solutions that improve customer and colleague experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Backlog Management
Own and manage the product backlog for assigned AI initiatives, ensuring prioritization aligns to business value, risk, and delivery capacity
Translate the AI roadmap (owned by the AI Value Enablement Lead) into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Define product outcomes, success metrics, and OKRs (e.g., efficiency gains, conversion uplift, quality improvements) and track progress end-to-end
Continuously refine scope using discovery findings, stakeholder feedback, and model performance/operational telemetry
Discovery, Requirements & Value Realization
Partner with business owners, operations, compliance, and frontline users to understand problems, validate assumptions, and size opportunities
Lead product discovery for AI use cases, including process mapping, current-state pain points, and future-state experience design
Define data and integration needs (inputs, outputs, system touchpoints) and ensure dependencies are identified early
Plan and execute pilots/POCs with measurable hypotheses and clear go/no-go criteria; drive adoption and change activities for scaled releases
Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, developers, and platform teams to deliver AI solutions from ideation to production
Facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, refinement, review) and ensure stakeholders have visibility of progress, risks, and trade-offs
Coordinate UAT and business readiness activities, ensuring workflows, training, and support processes are in place
Support the AI Enablement Lead in steering committees and portfolio reporting with accurate status, metrics, and decision points
Responsible AI, Governance & Risk
Ensure product requirements incorporate data privacy, security, and regulatory considerations relevant to insurance and financial services
Partner with risk, compliance, and legal teams to embed Responsible AI principles (fairness, transparency, explainability, human oversight) into delivery
Define non-functional requirements for AI solutions (latency, reliability, monitoring, auditability) and ensure they are met before go-live
Monitor post-release performance (model drift, accuracy, user feedback) and prioritize remediation and continuous improvement
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or related field
7+ years of experience in product ownership/product management, business analysis, or delivery roles, with exposure to AI/analytics initiatives
Demonstrated ability to write clear user stories, define acceptance criteria, and drive delivery in Agile/Scrum teams
Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts (including generative AI) and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to align diverse groups around outcomes and priorities
Excellent communication skills in English and Cantonese
Preferred:
Experience in insurance, bancassurance, or broader financial services environments
Hands-on experience launching AI features into production, including experimentation/A-B testing and adoption tracking
Familiarity with Responsible AI practices, model risk management, and data governance concepts
Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure/AWS) and data platforms
CSPO/PSPO or equivalent Agile certification
