Job Description

We seek to hire a Legal Counsel - Alibaba Cloud who will be a key member of the growing international legal and compliance team supporting Alibaba Cloud's rapid expansion around the world. Alibaba Cloud now has data centers in Singapore, US, UK, Germany, UAE (Dubai), Saudi Arabia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, China (both mainland China and Hong Kong). The successful candidate will be based in Hong Kong with occasional business travels.

Primary Responsibilities

- Advise on legal aspects of Alibaba Cloud's international expansion, key focus is on ensuring compliance and leading compliance projects as well as commercial contract and negotiation support for north APAC region.

- Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of new business models and strategies, business operations and marketing activities.

- Negotiate, draft and review contracts and commercial agreements.

- Research local laws and regulations and manage outside counsel.

Position Requirement

Legal qualification from an international jurisdiction, and/or qualified in other jurisdictions (e.g. Hong Kong and U.S.) but with solid experience in cross-border legal affairs.

- 7-10 years post-qualification experience at a law firm and/or corporation.

- Technology sector experience or technology education background would be a plus.

- Full professional proficiency in English language, particularly strong legal drafting and negotiation skills in English.
