Applications Development Senior Group Manager - Algorithmic Trading Lead

Citi's Equities Technology organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Leader to join the Equities Electronic Execution (Electronic Trading) technology team , focusing on the design and delivery of Citi's next - gen algorithmic trading platform .

This is a strategic, high-impact role where you will define the technology that powers our electronic trading business, directly influencing our competitive edge in the market.

The senior technologist in this role will be responsible for defining technology architecture , driv ing global implementation and adherence to performance & latency targets while maintaining high standards on code quality and SDLC processes . Th is role will r equir e hands-on coding and design o n the algo platform along with managing a team of high-performance algorithmic trading engineers.

This role will require close collaboration with the trading desks , product development , and quantitative research on platform design as well as implementation and optimization of trading strategies. Prior experience in Algorithmic Trading / Market Making / Quantitative Trading is necessary along with knowledge of market microstructure and regulatory regimes across regional markets.

Responsibilities

• 
  Core Development: Design and development of Citi's next gen algorithmic trading platforms.
  

• 
  Product Collaboration: Partner with traders, quant researchers, and clients to understand their needs and translate them into product features and enhancements.
  

• 
  Testing: Continuously improve and maintain automation testing frameworks, development tools, and environments to ensure platform reliability and performance at scale.
  

• 
  AI-Powered SDLC: Leverage Citi's suite of AI-powered development tools throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to enhance productivity, code quality, and innovation.
  

• 
  Agile & CI/CD: Implement Agile development practices and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes with a focus on shift-left testing and accelerated release cycles.

  Platform Support & Enhancement: Build and maintain common solutions for trading platform monitoring, trade reconciliation, application reco very, an d other essential support functions.

Qualifications

• 
  Minimum 1 5 years of experience with strong technical knowledge and expertise in Low L atency Java, C++ or Rust .
  

• 
  Pr ior experience in developing Algorithmic trading platforms or equivalent in a global financial institution.
  

• 
  Strong understanding of automated testing techniques and quality engineering practices.
  

• 
  S trong understanding of Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration processes.
  

• 
  Expertise i n low-latency system design , including performance optimization, concurrency, and high-throughput architecture.
  

• 
  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.
  

• 
  Excellent communication skills with a demonstrable ability to present and grasp complex concepts in a multicultural, cross-regional environment.
  

• 
  Knowledge of regional exchange microstructure and regulatory regimes.
  

Education

• 
  Bachelor's degree / University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
