The University Library invites applications for the position of Assistant University Librarian (Digital Strategies), a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing the Library’s digital agenda.

Reporting to the University Librarian, the appointee will provide strategic leadership in digital scholarship, library data analytics, and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence to support learning, research, and library operations. Working closely with all library sections and academic units in the university, the role will translate emerging technologies into sustainable, high‑impact services.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading the development and implementation of the Library’s digital strategy;
• Advancing digital scholarship services and infrastructure in partnership with faculty, researchers, and library colleagues;
• Overseeing library data analytics and assessment to support evidence‑based planning and performance reporting; and
• Driving AI‑ and technology‑enabled initiatives, including guidance on AI’s impact on student learning and information literacy, and the use of automation to improve internal workflows.

Applicants should have:

• A master’s degree in information and library studies or a related field;
• Substantial working experience in academic libraries, including leadership of digital initiatives and staff management;
• A strong record of innovation and change leadership in complex environments;
• Sound understanding of digital trends in higher education, including data‑enabled services and responsible AI use;
• Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an advantage; and
• A collaborative spirit and a learning mindset.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, housing, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
