We are seeking an accomplished candidate to join us as Associate Director within our Asia-Pacific team in Hong Kong, supporting Flint's Financial Services clients across the region. This role requires deep financial sector knowledge, excellent communication and people skills, strong project management abilities, and a proven record in client relationship management. The Associate Director will report directly to a Partner and play a key role in delivering client work, supporting business development, and leading and mentoring junior colleagues.
Role Overview
As an Associate Director, you will:
- Lead and deliver high-quality advisory projects for clients in the financial services sector, focusing on public policy, regulatory strategy to support commercial and other objectives.
- Support business development activities, including contributing to proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership, in collaboration with Partners and Directors.
- Manage and nurture client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders across Asia-Pacific, while ensuring efficient and high-quality client delivery.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight by refining deliverables to maximise the value Flint delivers to clients; think strategically to support clients in achieving their commercial and other goals.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Represent Flint at industry events and with government and regulatory bodies, as appropriate.
- Ensure effective project management, resource allocation, and delivery of client engagements.
- Take responsibility for account administration, and perform Manager-level responsibilities as needed.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and contribute to performance reviews for team members.
- Contribute to internal thought leadership, including Flint-wide marketing materials and knowledge sharing.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency.
- Engage in strategic relationship-building activities to support business development and generate leads.
- Oversee budgeting and financial oversight of individual accounts and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex client projects, ensuring quality and client satisfaction, across cultures and APAC jurisdictions and Europe.
- Provide expert analysis and advice on policy, regulatory, and political developments affecting financial services clients in Asia-Pacific.
- Build and maintain strong networks with clients, regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, contributing to pitches, and developing Flint’s profile in the region.
- Oversee project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of team members.
- Uphold Flint’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working in Asia-Pacific markets and jurisdictions
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in public policy, government affairs, regulatory advisory, or consulting, with a focus on financial services.
- Proven ability to manage senior client relationships and deliver high-impact projects in Asia-Pacific.
- Deep understanding of policy, regulatory, and commercial issues shaping the financial services sector in the region.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at senior levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in regional languages (Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, etc) is not essential but would be an advantage.
- Right to work in Hong Kong is preferred
