Overview of the Hong Kong Team

The Hong Kong Investment Banking team comprises almost 30 Bankers and serves as a key regional hub for Moelis & Company's Asia-Pacific platform. The team provides strategic and financial advisory services to leading corporates, financial sponsors, and institutional investors across Greater China and the broader APAC region.

We deliver cross-sector advisory services encompassing M&A, capital raising, and restructuring transactions. Our collaborative approach, combined with deep local market knowledge and access to the Firm's global platform, enables the team to execute complex, cross-border transactions and provide clients with strategic guidance tailored to their unique objectives.

Position Description:

We are seeking an Associate to join our Hong Kong Investment Banking team. This role is suited for a high-performing generalist or sector aligned banker with strong analytical and execution capabilities who is eager to gain broad exposure across industries and transaction types in the APAC region. The Associate will play a key role in transaction execution, client coverage, and business development initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed quantitative and qualitative financial analysis, including valuation, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses.
• Develop and maintain complex financial and operating models to support transaction evaluation and client decision-making.
• Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, pitch books, information memoranda, and other client deliverables.
• Conduct company, industry, and market research to identify strategic trends and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
• Support senior team members in all aspects of transaction execution, including due diligence, process management, and coordination with clients and external advisors.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of client objectives.
• Contribute to business development efforts through idea generation, industry analysis, and preparation of client-ready materials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and valuation methodologies.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in investment banking (M&A/corporate finance), private equity, or a related field.
• Experience across multiple industries or transaction types; sector specialization is not required.
• Demonstrated client-focused mindset with the ability to deliver high-quality, tailored solutions.
• Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is highly desirable.
