Company Profile

Our client is a Hong Kong–based investment subsidiary of one of Japan’s largest general trading houses. As they launch a new financial asset acquisition and recovery business, they are seeking a talented Japanese‑speaking Business Development Lead as an additional headcount.

Exciting New Role for You

This newly created role will serve as the Project Lead for a new business involving the purchase and recovery of distressed consumer debt assets. You will work closely with established Hong Kong partners who already possess strong acquisition and recovery platforms, allowing you to understand operations on the ground and build strategic know‑how.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Planning

• • Lead a new financial asset acquisition and recovery project.
  • Collaborate with Hong Kong partners to absorb operational expertise and build internal knowledge.
  • Drive partnership evaluation, business case development, and future investment or JV opportunities across Mainland China and Southeast Asia.
  • Coordinate with headquarters in Japan on mid‑ to long‑term strategic planning.

Operational Analysis & Reporting

• • Visit partner companies 2–3 times per week to understand workflows, system functions, team management, organizational structure, and KPIs.
  • Consolidate findings and produce comprehensive business reports to support decision‑making (“knowledge sharing”).
  • Participate in joint task force teams to discuss collaboration models and regional expansion.

Hands-on Field Approach

This role requires stepping directly into on‑site operations to understand the business in depth — not purely consulting-style work, but a hybrid of strategy and hands‑on immersion.

Requirements

• • Minimum 3–5 years of business development experience ; candidates from any industry are welcome.
  • Background in Japanese companies is highly preferred.
  • Fluent in Japanese (JLPT N1/Native level), Cantonese , and English.
  • Strong capability in quantitative analysis, data management, and Excel .
  • Logical thinker with the ability to synthesize and structure complex information.
  • Proactive, analytical, and motivated for growth.
  • Experience in the Financial/Investment sectors is a strong advantage.
  • STEM/Engineering background is a plus due to the analytical nature of the work.
