Cyber Security Engineer | Global Hedge Fund | Hong Kong

I’m partnering with a leading global investment firm hiring a Cyber Security Engineer for its growing technology team in Hong Kong.

This is a broad, hands-on role covering both security operations and engineering. You’ll act as the first line of defence for cyber incidents while helping design, implement and improve the firm’s security platforms and controls.

As the standalone Cyber Security Engineer in Hong Kong, you’ll have significant ownership, work closely with regional and global technology teams, and help shape a relatively new security function that welcomes fresh ideas.

1. Triage security alerts and lead incident investigations
2. Improve threat detection, automation and response playbooks
3. Design and implement security controls across systems and cloud platforms
4. Own and enhance enterprise security tooling
5. Partner with infrastructure, engineering and end-user technology teams
6. Contribute to threat modelling, vulnerability remediation and secure design
7. Assess emerging risks across AI and LLM-enabled applications

1. 5+ years of broad Cyber Security experience
2. Experience across security operations, incident response and engineering
3. Strong knowledge of threats across Linux and/or Windows environments
4. Experience with SIEM, EDR, threat hunting and forensic analysis
5. Python programming skills and the ability to complete a live coding exercise
6. Knowledge of network security and application security principles
7. Strong communication, ownership and problem-solving skills

1. Experience with Zscaler, Purview, Mimecast or Microsoft Defender
2. Exposure to AWS, Azure, Kubernetes or Infrastructure-as-Code
3. Knowledge of DevSecOps and configuration-management tooling
4. Experience with AI/ML security or LLM-related threats
5. Mandarin or Chinese-language skills
6. Relevant security certifications

1. Own the Cyber Security function locally as an expansion hire
