Deputy Head of Operations, Retail & SME banking

A reputable Retail and Commercial Bank is seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Operations to join their Operations department.

The Deputy Head of Operations will oversee the daily operational activities of the retail and SME banking division. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of banking operations while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.

Your new role

• Supervise the operations department with 100+ headcounts and manage daily operations (including Account Services, KYC/CDD, E-banking, Payments and Remittances, Treasury settlement, Loans & Credit Administration, and Insurance Services).
• Establish and ensure adherence to departmental guidelines as well as compliance with the HKMA and Bank's policy.
• Identify internal control and process gaps, business transformation, and data mitigation.
• Manage incidents and resolutions, define Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to track performance, and monitor
• Key Risk Indicators. Ensure that all operations functions centralized in the Head Office are carried out in accordance with the agreed SLA.
• Define process priorities, key knowledge on banking controls, market and product knowledge. Keep abreast of industry developments and align to business strategies and priorities.
• Recommend tactical and strategic solutions to the process gaps, incidents, and enhancements with a strong emphasis on controls, efficiency, capacity planning, best practice, process alignment, and regulatory targets.
• Perform regular quality tracking and produce a monthly report for senior management review.

What you'll need to succeed

• A relevant degree in Business/Finance-related subjects.
• More than 10 years of working experience in Retail/ Commercial/ Wholesale Banking Operations and/or Operations Control fields with experience in risk identification, controls monitoring, and policies and procedures documentation.
• Excellent knowledge in banking operations including Account Services, KYC/CDD, E-banking, Payments and Remittances, Treasury settlement, Loans & Credit Administration, and Insurance Services.
• Team and people management experience in related functions.
• Proficiency in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese is a must.
