DevOps Lead - Global Trading Firm - Hong Kong

Our client, a global market making firm, is actively seeking a DevOps Lead to join their team in Hong Kong. You will own the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of their trading and infrastructure platforms. You will lead DevOps practices across deployment automation, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure—ensuring low-latency, high-availability systems operate smoothly during market hours. You’ll partner closely with Quant/Trading/Engineering to standardize platforms, improve engineering velocity, and strengthen resilience.

The role:

1. Lead the DevOps function across infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and incident management for trading-critical systems.
2. Own deployment pipelines and release processes (automation, versioning, rollback, environment management).
3. Drive performance and reliability improvements for low-latency services (network, compute, storage, concurrency where applicable).
4. Implement and manage monitoring/alerting, dashboards, and SLO/SLI practices; improve incident response readiness.
5. Manage infrastructure provisioning and configuration (IaC) and ensure secure, auditable operations.
6. Partner with engineering to harden systems: security baselines, secrets management, access controls, vulnerability management.
7. Lead capacity planning and scaling strategies for market-hours peaks.
8. Establish operational runbooks, testing strategies (including failover/drills), and post-incident reviews.
9. Mentor and guide engineers; set DevOps engineering standards and best practices.

What you offer:

1. Proven experience leading DevOps/SRE activities in production environments—preferably in financial services or latency-sensitive systems.
2. Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP acceptable).
3. Strong experience with Linux, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting performance/reliability issues.
4. Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and configuration management.
5. Deep experience with CI/CD tooling and automation (e.g., GitHub Actions/Jenkins/GitLab CI).
6. Strong observability stack experience (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/EFK, OpenTelemetry).
7. Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Bash, Go—at least one confidently).
8. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) including production operations.
9. Understanding of security practices: IAM, secrets management, TLS/cert management, audit logging.
10. Excellent incident management skills (root cause analysis, blameless postmortems, remediation tracking).
