Job Description - Director/Team Lead - Compliance

Director / Team Lead – Compliance

As the Team Lead, you will manage key initiatives to ensure complete adherence to legal and regulatory obligations. You will lead projects aimed at reinforcing the organisation’s compliance and regulatory risk framework, maintaining alignment with regional and global requirements, and delivering robust risk mitigation measures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify legal, compliance and regulatory exposures, then develop mitigation plans including new or updated compliance policies and procedures.
  2. Lead local, regional and group-level legal and compliance projects from start to finish, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the highest standard.
  3. Stay fully up to date with evolving laws, regulations and industry codes, and confirm that all projects and activities fully comply.
  4. Work closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to align initiatives with business objectives and deliver expert advice on both business and regulatory compliance matters.
  5. Identify and implement process improvements across legal and compliance activities to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Prepare clear and comprehensive reports and documentation for senior management and regulatory authorities.
  7. Mentor and develop junior team members to build a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness.

Essential Requirements

  1. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in legal and compliance within the financial services industry, with strong exposure to corporate banking preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance or a related discipline.
  3. Proven track record in leading regulatory and compliance-driven projects.
  4. Solid understanding of international banking regulations and risk management frameworks.
  5. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  7. Good command of English and Cantonese; fluent Mandarin is a distinct advantage.
