Execution Trader / Trader Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and resilient Mid-Junior Execution Trader to join our trading desk. You will be responsible for executing trades accurately and efficiently during market hours (shift is required to cover both Asian and US market), managing end-of-day reconciliation, preparing performance reports, monitoring risk exposure, and providing critical market intelligence. This role is central to daily operations and serves as a key steppingstone toward senior trading or portfolio management roles.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute trading orders promptly and accurately during market hours, ensuring correct allocation to designated accounts.
  • Monitor real-time market conditions and adjust execution tactics to minimize slippage and maximize efficiency.
  • Track position risk exposure, proactively implement stop-loss orders as instructed when predefined risk thresholds are breached.
  • Consolidate trade settlements and reconcile all executed trades.
  • Prepare daily P&L summary reports.
  • Compile pre-market and post-market news summaries and analytical reports.
  • Monitor key institutional fund holdings (e.g., major ETFs, mutual funds, sovereign wealth funds).
  • Track flows, capital movements, trends to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in trading, execution, or operations — ideally within buyside like asset management, hedge fund.
  • Strong candidates without direct trading experience but with simulation trading, internship, or quantitative analysis background may be considered.
  • Proficient in Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters Eikon, enfusion, or similar trading platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA is a plus).
  • Familiarity with order types (market, limit, TWAP, VWAP, iceberg) and execution best practices. Basic understanding of risk metrics (VaR).
  • Programming skills (Python) are a strong plus.
  • CFA, FRM, or other finance certifications is a plus.
  • Experience with trade reconciliation systems or middle-office workflows.
  • Fluent mandarin and English is required (written and spoken).
