The Role

We are looking for the company's first Global Head of Risk to build and lead the entire global risk function from scratch.

This covers market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk across crypto spot and derivatives trading, stablecoin operations, and cross-border payment infrastructure. You will design frameworks, hire teams, establish governance, and partner directly with regulators across 7+ jurisdictions as the company scales.

This is a hands-on, build-from-zero leadership role. Not managing an existing function, not inheriting established teams. You will be the person designing the policies, setting the limits, building the controls, and creating the organization.

Candidates whose recent experience is primarily managing established risk functions without building from scratch will not be prioritized.

Location: Hong Kong, Singapore, or remote with Asia hours

What You Will Do

• Design and implement enterprise-wide risk management frameworks tailored for crypto markets and digital asset infrastructure
• Oversee crypto trading risk across spot, derivatives, and structured products, ensuring positions align with risk limits and company mandates
• Monitor exchange and counterparty risk across centralized and decentralized venues, managing collateral, margin, and settlement practices
• Conduct regular stress testing, VaR analysis, and scenario simulations to assess portfolio and market vulnerabilities
• Partner with trading, product, treasury, and operations teams to embed risk principles into product design and strategic initiatives
• Build and maintain risk systems, data analytics, and monitoring infrastructure for timely detection and escalation
• Establish governance and reporting to senior leadership and Board, providing insights into risk trends and exposures
• Hire, mentor, and lead a global team of risk professionals across multiple regions and time zones
• Engage directly with regulators (SFC, MAS, and authorities across target markets) on risk frameworks and compliance
• Manage business continuity, crisis response, and recovery procedures for high-volatility or operational disruption events

What You Bring to the Table

• 8+ years of experience in risk management across global markets, trading, or financial institutions
• Proven hands-on experience in crypto or digital asset risk management - this is mandatory
• Deep understanding of crypto market microstructure, exchange mechanics, derivatives, and liquidity management
• Strong knowledge of blockchain settlement risks, custody structures, and counterparty frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement global risk frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
• Leadership experience managing teams across regions and time zones, ideally building risk functions from scratch
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Fluency in Mandarin and English - this is mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related discipline; FRM or CFA preferred

Ideal backgrounds include current or former Heads of Risk, Chief Risk Officers, or VPs of Risk Management from crypto exchanges, digital asset trading firms, or regulated virtual asset platforms with hands-on experience building risk operations.
