Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialist aluminium workboats, RIBs, and patrol craft, supplying professional, commercial, and government operators worldwide. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Global Technical Director to lead the technical strategy, product development, and engineering direction of their expanding vessel portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior marine professional to take ownership of a highly respected product range while working at the forefront of innovation within the professional marine sector.

The Role As Global Technical Director, you will lead the technical development of a range of 6m to 12m aluminium-hull RIBs and patrol craft, ensuring products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and manufacturing objectives. Working closely with engineering, production, and commercial teams, you will drive product strategy from concept through to delivery, while acting as the key technical authority for both internal stakeholders and customers.

The position is based in Hong Kong and will require relocation.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical strategy and long-term development of the company's patrol craft and RIB product range.
Take ownership of the technical definition of vessels, including hull structures, propulsion systems, electrical systems, deck equipment, and optional configurations.
Provide technical leadership across all design and engineering activities.
Review and approve engineering solutions, drawings, and structural designs.
Lead the technical preparation of government and professional marine tenders, including specifications, compliance documentation, and technical submissions.
Ensure all products comply with relevant industry standards and certification requirements.
Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
Act as the primary technical representative for customers, including navies, coast guards, port authorities, and commercial operators.
Support vessel demonstrations, sea trials, and customer acceptance activities where required.Requirements
Degree qualified in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience delivering aluminium workboats, RIBs, patrol craft, or similar professional marine vessels.
Strong understanding of government and professional marine procurement programmes and tender processes.
Experience managing product development from concept through to production.
Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Familiarity with structured New Product Development (NPD) processes.
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
